Henrietta Hoogstad
Henrietta Sophia Wilhelmina Hoogstad was born on July 22, 1920 and died on January 15, 2011. She married James William Smith.
Obituary
Henrietta S. Smith passed away January 15, 2011 at her home.
She was born July 22, 1920 in Spokane to Carl and Marie (Vandergagg) Hoogstad. She completed the eighth grade and then stayed home to care for her mother until her death.
In 1946 she married James W. Smith and he passed in 1961. They adopted two children, Rick and Kathleen Smith, and she raised them after her husband's death. She worked various jobs, but her favorite was Evangel Book Store where she worked for 10 years until she retired. Her remaining years were spent at home baking and enjoying being with her family.
Henrietta was a member of the Salvation Army Church, where she played in the band and also belonged to Loma Vista Baptist Church for 29 years until it closed.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Smith; son Rick Smith; three sisters Dorothy Mules, Delores McAllister, Geraldine Roberg; brother Joe Hoogstad; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service 2:00PM, Friday, January 21, 2010 at Heritage Chapel.
