Mary Elizabeth Tatterson, 88, of Fairmont (Chesapeake Community), passed from this life early Wednesday morning (Nov. 16, 2011) at The Arbors at Fairmont, where she had been a resident for the past year. She was born in Rivesville on Sept. 12, 1923, the only daughter of the late Sydney Clay and Rebecca Hayhurst Satterfield. Mary retired from Fairmont General Hospital, having worked in the housekeeping department for over 35 years. She was a very active and hard-working soldier of The Salvation Army who loved her Lord and served Him well in both Fairmont, when it was active, and in Morgantown, up until the time she just couldn’t work anymore. She was a Salvation Army Silver Star Mother and member of the Home League Ladies Group. She loved to shop, watch movies and garden. Mrs. Tatterson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Majors Harry and Sue Tatterson, with whom she made her home; one niece, Dixie Satterfield, also at home; two grandchildren and their spouses, Majors Bryan and Marie Tatterson and Dawn Diane and Ted Lemons; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan and David Tatterson and Joshua and Jordon Lemons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Paul Tatterson, in 1963; her daughter and son-in-law, Alberta and Harry Sheppard; and her brother and sister-in-law, Sydney and Josephine Satterfield. Mary’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 753, Morgantown, WV 26507. Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with Captain Bob Cornett officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Donna McClure Veneris, 73, of Daniels Road, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mrs. Veneris was born in Fairmont, WV, on March 13, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Donald Eugene and Ruth Slusser McClure. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she was a faithful follower and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Surviving are her husband, Harry Veneris; a daughter, Dawn Lemmon (Ted) of Corapeake; a son, Bryan Tatterson (Marie) of Beaufort, SC; a step-son, Pete Veneris (Amy) of Williamsburg, VA; a sister, Linda M. Bufalino (Tony); four brothers: Eric McClure (Anne), John McClure (Linda), Bill McClure (Melody), and Donnie McClure; four grandchildren: Jordan and Joshua Lemmon, and Jonathan and David Tatterson; and two step-grandchildren, Adam and Rachel Veneris. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 11:00 am, in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, and will be officiated by her brother, Major Bill McClure, an officer in The Salvation Army. Burial will follow in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family on Wednesday, from 7 to 8 pm, in the funeral home.
