Major John Wheeler was appointed to the Pen Argyl, PA Corps along with his wife, Major Martha Wheeler, replacing Captain Barbara Cure. They were stationed there for 4 moths before ultimately closing the corps due to poor attendance and no viable kettle locations. After this appointment, he and his wife were sent to East Stroudsburg, PA Corps replacing Majors Gilbert and Beth Parkhurst. He and his wife had been ARC officers prior to the Pen Argyl appointment. Their first appointment was in Olean, New York.
