Obituary
Major Paul T. Mackneer, 81, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Geisinger-Medical Center, Danville.
Born October 1, 1936, in Reedsville. He was a son to the late Louis Mackneer Sr. and Mary (Freed) Mackneer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Louis Jr., Rober, and Richard Mackneer; and a sister, Erma Stokes.
He is survived by: his wife, Susan (Haubrick) Mackneer, whom he married on Nov. 5, 1955, and shared 62 yrs. of marriage; children, Linda Folk and companion, Ken Wilson, of Lewistown, Major Mark Mackneer and wife, Susan, of Syracuse, N.Y., Major Trudy Medina and husband, Carlos, of Bloomfield, N.J.; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brothers, William Mackneer and wife, Pat of Lewistown, Larry Mackneer and wife, Doris, of Cuba Mills; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1955.
He served in the Salvation Army with his wife for 24 years, in Chambersburg, Shamokin, Levittown, Milton and Pottsville. He was gifted with an ear for music and played at the local Salvation Army for 17 years. He built a cabin at Poe Valley that was his pride and joy. He loved the family gatherings that were held there and loved to go hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed helping others and fixing things.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, with Major Leslie Walter and Major Duane Harris officiating.
Interment will take place at Church Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to: Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
