Obituary
Annie F. Parkhurst, 86, of Bradford MA passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Groveland MA on September 30, 1938, daughter of the late George O. and Edith C. (Kenniston) Spencer. After high school, Annie met her husband Eugene R. Parkhurst and started a family, raising 13 children.
Annie was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army in Haverhill MA. As a SR. Soldier, Annie raised her children in the church and enjoyed being a member of the Women's Home League and was the leader of the Sunbeam group. Annie coordinated visits to local nursing homes but one of Annie's favorite things to do was ring the bell for the Salvation Army during the holiday season. Anyone who spent time with Annie in church could see how much she loved playing her tambourine and singing hymns. Annie worked in the printing industry at DBL, Eagle Tribune and Shawsheen Printing before coming to work in the office at the Salvation Army in Haverhill MA. Annie loved camping and spending time with her family, she especially cherished all her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Eugene R. Parkhurst, her son, Daniel W. Parkhurst and siblings, Ralph Spencer, Lorna Whittaker, Michele Dionne, Walter (Skip) Spencer, Scott Spencer, Shirley Mehaffey and Linda Vezina.
Annie is survived by her children, Eugene Parkhurst and his wife Deborah of North Tazewell VA, Raymond Parkhurst and his wife Lia of Kensington NH, Suzanne Coombs of Haverhill MA, William Parkhurst of Haverhill MA, Timothy Parkhurst and his wife Doreen of Alton NH, Majors Gilbert and Beth Ellen Parkhurst of Danbury CT, Karen Murphy and her husband Anthony SR of Fremont NH, Wanda Parkhurst and her husband Dale Hodgerney of Raymond NH, James Parkhurst and his wife Sarah of Brentwood, NH, Patricia Fortier and her husband David of Kingston NH, Arthur Parkhurst and his wife Brenda of Ocala FL, Kirk Parkhurst of Derry NH. Her brother George and his wife Margie, her brother Ronald Spencer, her sister Kathy DiPietro and her husband Mario and 37 grandchildren as well as many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Thursday, Nov. 7th from 4-7 PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill, MA. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 8th at 10 AM at the Salvation Army, 395 Main St. Haverhill, MA officiated by Major Gilbert R. Parkhurst and Major Walter L. Rivers, Jr. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Georgetown, MA.
