Obituary

Melissa Pearl (Thomas) Hagglund, 75, of Audubon PA, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior in the quiet pre-dawn hours on Monday, March 4th, 2019.

Born in Buffalo NY, she was the daughter of Mary Pearl and Eugene Thomas. Surviving is her loving husband of almost 54 years and partner in ministry, Frederick Hagglund of Audubon, daughters Kirsten (Neil) Childs of Topsham ME and Kari (Jay) Hagglund-Graver of Norristown. She was the proud grandmother to Brendan, Paige, Daniel & Melissa. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert Thomas of Leominster MA and sister, Linda G. Thomas of Kenmore NY, and nephews Randall (Chris), Martyn (Monica) Seth (Kelsey) and Stefen and nieces Lisa (Keith), Sara (Scott) and Lanis (Robin) and many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melissa was a lifelong Salvationist, and served for 28 years as an officer in Harrisburg PA, Chambersburg PA, Lebanon PA, Chester PA, Oswego NY, Danbury CT, Pittsburg PA, Philadelphia PA, Greenfield MA, Nyack NY, Ashford CT and Rochester PA. She enjoyed working with children, spending time with family, and annual summer visits to Old Orchard Beach, ME. She will always be remembered for her warm gentle spirit, glowing smile, and her unconditional love and friendship. She made a lasting impact on the lives of everyone she came in contact with and will be missed greatly. The God of hope, whom Melissa trusted and served wholeheartedly, has now fulfilled His promise as she stands in His presence filled with unspeakable joy and peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to Melissa's Celebration of Life at The Salvation Army, Philadelphia Citadel Corps, 5830 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia PA on Saturday, March 16th, 2019. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM immediately followed by the service at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The Bandmaster Eugene F. Thomas Memorial Scholarship C/O The Salvation Army Eastern Territorial Music Department, 440 West Nyack Road, Nyack NY 10994. Interment will be at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla NY at the convenience of the family.
