Obituary

Keitha White, 100, was promoted to glory June 28, 199[2]. A lifelong member of the Salvation Army and mother of several prominent Salvation Army leaders, she was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. She was a retired Salvation Army officer and a member of the Miami Sunset Community Salvation Army Church. A widow since 1938, she moved to Coral Gables from Atlanta in 1943 and was very active in her church and community affairs in the Miami area. As a talented pianist she ministered with her music all her life. During her career, she served with her husband in various appointments in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Washington, D.C., Oklahoma and Georgia. In 1987, she received the “Order of the Founder,” the Salvation Army's most prestigious international award. She is survived by 5 sons, Ernest (Mina) Holz, Swansboro, NC, Wilson (Martha) Holz, Orange City, FL, David (Emeline) Holz, Asheville, NC and Edwy (Joyce) Holz, Miami; 3 daughters, Keitha (Herb) Young, Seattle, WA, Edith (Bud) Charnock, Hemet, CA and Nancy, Coral Galbes; 1 sister, Myrtle Thomas, Michigan; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation 7 PM, Tuesday, with services at 8 PM, at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL, 4600 S.W. 8TH STREET. Burial Thursday at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Officers' Training, 10312 Stewart Ave., SW, Atlanta, GA 30311
