Obituary
Amick, Brigadier Hubert Paul, current resident of Topeka, died July 6, 2005. Service 1 p.m. Saturday, Resthaven Mortuary.
Brigadier Amick served for 42 years in The Salvation Army, initially as a minister then later as an administrator for the Adult Rehabilitation Program throughout Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota. During these years, as well as after his retirement, he participated in many civic and volunteer organizations including the Civitan, Kiwanis and Lyons clubs, Civil Defense activities, and The Salvation Army's disaster-relief program. He also served for many years on the Kansas State Sunday School Convention, and was selected for advanced education at The Salvation Army's International School for Officers in London, England. Brigadier Amick always had a word of encouragement for anyone who needed it and a good joke because he knew laughter was good medicine.
He was a beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, (almost great-grandfather), brother, minister, counselor and friend. Though he will be missed terribly, his smile and laughter will cheer all who remember him.
Preceded in death by son, Mark A. Amick.
Survivors: wife, Ethel “Winkie”; daughter, Melody Ross of Topeka; brothers David Dean (Flossie) Amick of Raymore, MO, Carl C. Jr. (Betty) Amick of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Heather C. Ross Schmidt and Craig Schmidt, Kelly M. (daniel) Ross, Geoffrey A. Ross.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Mrs. Amick and will be distributed to various charities including, World Services of the Salvation Army.
