Ruth A. Baker Hawkins was born on March 12, 1930, and died on May 14, 2026.
Obituary
Ruth A. Hawkins, 96, of Cochranton (Hannaville Area), died on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at The Caring Place following a brief illness.
She was born March 12, 1930 in Franklin and was the daughter of the late Lester & Edith (Connell) Baker.
She attended Franklin Schools. She was a member of the Protestant faith. She worked for the telephone company and the card factory prior to working and retiring from Polk Center.
Her hobbies included reading, word search, playing cards and going to bingo.
On January 2, 1947 she marred Charles E. Hawkins, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and he died November 14, 2012.
Surviving are four children, Sherrie Jo (Hawkins) Harris and her husband A. Logan of Kennerdell; three sons, Charles E. Hawkins Jr. of Polk, Steven R. Hawkins and his wife Valerie of Polk and Robert F. Hawkins and his wife Cheryl of Stoneboro.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Steven R. Hawkins Jr. and his wife Karen of Polk, Brian L. Harris and his wife Jennifer of Wexford, Heather L. Mlecko and her husband Matthew of Ingomar, Amber R. Wray and her husband James of Seneca, Chad E. Hawkins of Polk, Robert F. Hawkins Jr. and his wife Inde of Seneca and Stacy Marie Hawkins of Seneca; twelve great-grandchildren, Justin Hawkins and his wife Cheyenne, Brooke, Logan and Sarah Mlecko, Madeline, William, and Olivia Harris, Maddox Hawkins, Jayden Wray, Keely Dale, Elin and Emmerick Hawkins.
She is survives by two brothers, Lester L. Baker, James C. Baker and wife Linda and by a special cousin, Gladys Ghering.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and their husbands and one sister-in-law, Elnora (Frank) Baker, Martha (Junior) Greathouse, Helen (Vernon) Harris, Mary (Reed) Stright, Edith (William) Beach and Bonny Baker.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where private visitation and services will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to a charity of one's choice.
