Maj. Flossie Amick, 81, was promoted to glory on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, from her daughter's home in Raytown, Mo. She slipped away peacefully at about 7 p.m. after being under hospice care for several weeks.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1925, in Mound City, Kan., to William and Delilu Mathews.
She married Capt. David Amick on Sept. 9, 1945. For the next 41 years they would actively serve together as Salvation Army officers and they would share their lives together for 61 years. He survives.
Local survivors include: a son, Maj. James Amick and his wife, Diane, of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Visitation was held Saturday at The Salvation Army, 14700 E. Truman Rd., Independence, Mo.
The funeral was also Saturday, with Maj. Richard Trimmell officiating.
A graveside committal was conducted by Lt. Colonel Robert Bonfield at the Memorial Park-Greenlawn Cemeteries, following the funeral service.
