Retired Brig. Donald R. Lance, 74, of East Stroudsburg died Monday, March 31, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of C. Ada (Bozman) Lance.
A Salvation Army officer, he worked at its Ashford, Conn., conference center for five years before retiring and formerly for the Eastern Pennsylvania division for more than 40 years.
Born in Glens Falls, N.Y., he was a son of the late George Washington and Emma Alda (LeBrun) Lance.
A men's Bible class teacher and pianist for 10 years at the East Stroudsburg Salvation Army Citadel, he was a guest speaker at many of its functions. He was also a Bible teacher and chaplain at the Senior Citizen Conference Center and Ladore Lodge, Waymart, Wayne County.
He was a regional Boy Scouts of America director for the Eastern Pennsylvania Division of the Salvation Army and a Salvation Army Golden Age Clubs director, both for 17 years.
Survivors: Wife; daughters, Carolyn R. Knaggs of Glen Ridge, N.J., and Capt. Normajean Honsberger of Floral Park, N.Y.; sons, Capt. Donald W. of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Stephen M. of Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Maj. Kenneth, and a sister, Margaret Mahoney, both of Glens Falls, and nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
