William L. Ashcraft, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away December 1, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1931, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Homer and Opal (Eaton) Ashcraft.
He was a Trustee of the Union Club, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 397, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1031, former member of the National Skilled Trades Advisory Council and Past President of Local 902. He was retired from Robbins and Myers with 31 years of service, a recipient of the United Auto Workers Walter P. Reuther Distinguished Service Award, a former Noon Optimist and a Babe Ruth Baseball Coach for many years. His survivors include his wife Betty (Trent) Ashcraft; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and David Saunders of Springfield, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Ashcraft of Springfield and daughter an son-in-law and Lisa and Patrick Phillips of South Charleston; grandchildren, Jamison, Christopher and Spencer Saunders, Phillip and Mitchell Ashcraft and Erika and Nicholas Phillips; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bessie and Buster Hammons of Cincinnati, Ohio and Leona and Robert Baldwin of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Adeline Ashcraft of Chillicothe, Ohio, many nieces and nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday from 4-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Springfield where services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Reverend Buster Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 15 South Plum St., Springfield, Ohio 45506
