| + | ====Spelling of Last Name==== | ||
| + | The family name had always been spelled McMillan but Alexander (2nd generation) changed the spelling to MacMillan as he wanted his last name to reflect a more Scottish spelling. Initially, all 2nd generation McMillans changed their name to the new spelling. As they joined the ranks of the Army, many changed it back to the original spelling. | ||
