Obituary

Gus Blair Abrams, 86, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Salvation Army, died yesterday at home.

Mr. Abrams was born in Akron, Ohio and lived in Arlington many years before moving here 11 years ago. He was graduated from the Salvation Army Training College, New York City, and was commissioned an officer in 1913. For 32 years before his retirement in 1955 he was the Salvation Army legal secretary, stationed at the eastern Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters in New York City.

He was a life member of the Birmingham Temple Lodge No. 636 F&AM; the Advertising Club of New York City; the Salvation Army Retired Officers League, and in 1967 he was president of the New York Lions Club. He also was a member of the Asbury Park Corps of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are his wife, the former Anne Millar; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Donahue, Lexington, Mass., 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Ely Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of the arrangements.
