Farwell Party for Captain Wiltsie
The hall of the local corps of the Salvation Army was the scene of a very delightful occasion Tuesday evening when the members of the local corps tendered a surprise farewell party to Captain Doris Wiltsie.
Captain Wiltsie was taken completely by surprise.
The members of the local corps are sorry to see Captain Wiltsie leaving, but wished her the best of luck and success in her new field of labor.
Captain Wiltsie will become the bride of Captain Richard Atwell, of the Lewistown corps on January 16.
The members of the local corps presented her with a beautiful light and bouquet of flowers.
She was also the recipient of several individual gifts.

Capt. Wiltsie, of Salvation Army Married
Captain Doris Wiltsie, of Oswego, N. Y., former Commandant of the Salvation Army, here, and Captain Richard Atwell, of Lewistown, were married in First Methodist Episcopal church, Lewistown, at 8:00 o'clock last night.
Brigadier Charles Trew, of Scranton, Northeastern Pennsylvania Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army, performed the ceremony.
Captain Elmer Worthy, of Tyrone, was best man, while Mrs. Norman Noble, of Berwick, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Adjutant Mary Mason, of Scranton, and Lieutenant Helen Beaver, of Pen Argyl.
Attendants included five ushers, five program sergeants and two flag sergeants. One of the program sergeants was Lieutenant Verna Blaine, who came to this city several weeks ago from Huntington to assume charge of Salvation Army work in this community until January 29, at which time a permanent appointment will be announced along with other changes in the division.
The newlyweds, it was announced, will honeymoon in Florida. On their return, they will reside at 303 south Main street, Lewistown, where Captain Atwell is the Commandant.
Captain Atwell, native of Plymouth, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Atwell.
Captain Wiltsie, one of the most able and popular Salvation Army workers ever to live in this community, was born in Newark, N.J., a daughter of Alvin and Alice (Guilds) Wiltsie, now of Oswego.
After graduating at Oswego High School, Doris enrolled at the Salvation Army Training College in New York City. On her first assignment, she became a probationary lieutenant at Danville, Montour country [sic.], where she remained four months and then was transferred to Berwick with the rank of full lieutenant.
Lieutenant Wiltsie, six months after her Berwick appointment, was called back to Scranton headquarters, where she remained one year and then was assigned to Honesdale with the rank of Captain.
Captain Wiltsie came to Mount Carmel a year ago last November and served with distinction until her recent resignation, at which time she returned to her home is Oswego, happy over her impending marriage to Captain Atwell.
