Sharon, Mass., Aug. 5. - Paul Rader, 23, a Salvation Army Captain, was killed by a stroke of lightning today while helping to bring several hundred child bathers to safety when a storm came up over Lake Massapoag.
Captain Rader, who was attached to the Salvation Army's fresh air camp here, was on a raft when the bolt struck him. He had been placing the children in boats and was about to get into a boat himself. None of the children was hurt, but Fred Gemash, a camp helper, was struck. He is expected to recover.
Rader was the son of Dr. Lyell Rader of Maywood, N.J., and had formerly lived in Chicago. An uncle, Paul Rader of Chicago, is an evangelist. The young Salvation Army worker is survived by a wife and one child.
