Obituary

Mrs. Brigadier Minnie Wiseman (R) was recently promoted to Glory from her home in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Minnie French, daughter of Commissioner and Mrs. George French and sister of Commissioner Holland French, was born in San Francisco, Calif., in 1901. With her family, she moved to Chicago and then to Seoul, Korea, where her parents were missionaries. She was the first graduate of the Seoul Foreign School. The family was then transferred to Bombay, India for five years.

Returning to Chicago after the death of her father, Minnie entered the Central Training College in September 1921. She was commissioned to the Field Department at territorial headquarters and remained there until her marriage in 1923 to Captain William Wiseman.

They served together in corps and the Men's Social Service Department until 1961, when they retired in Pacific Palisades, Calif., attending the Santa Monica Corps.

Brigadier Wieseman was promoted to Glory in 1972. Minnie served faithfully as a retired officer in the community of Santa Monica, being active as a Songster and in Home League and League of Mercy.

Surviving are her son Richard and daughter Millie Corliss in the Los Angeles area, and her son Wilfred of Aurora, Ill. There are six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Lt. Colonel Herbert Wiseman (R) spoke and Major Ronald Bawden officiated at the memorial service in Santa Monica.
