Major Edward R. Gifford of the Salvation Army, a former commander of the old Inland Empire-Montana division of the Army, with headquarters in Spokane, died June 30 in Phoenix, Ariz., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on June 21. This information was contained in the current issue of the War Cry, the weekly Army publication, received here yesterday.
The Army officer was divisional commander at Phoenix and was a son of the late Comissioner Adam Gifford, who died in San Francisco a few years ago. Both Major and Mrs. Gifford were popular officers while stationed in Spokane. The widow and children survive.
