The Salvation Army of Allentown, 144 N. 8th St., celebrated the renovation of the gymnasium with a ribbon cutting Oct. 22.
The renovations were made possible by a &75,000 state grant provided through the efforts of state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th.
The aging floor in the gym was replaced with new maple wood and two new backboards were installed.
During his presentation, Browne said he wanted to be the first to try a free throw.
Browne was happily accommodated, and after a number of attempts, did indeed make a basket.
