In 1959, after Stan received his Bachelor of Education degree, they were appointed to Mazowe Boys Secondary School in Zimbabwe. After severing as Headmaster there, he was transferred to Kolanya Boys Secondary School in Kenya.

Returning to Canada, they served on the training college staff and in divisional appointments before being sent to Alberta where Stan was the Divisional Commander. In 1977 he was again asked to go to Africa as Chief Secretary for the East Africa Territory, which headquarters in Nairobi.
