Abrams, 63, former Salvation Army chief here, died in the home of his daughter in Everett, Mass., Sunday according to word received at the Salvation Army citadel here yesterday. Mr. Abrams was in charge of the Salvation Army work here for about five years, publishing his life story "Out of the House of Judea," while in East Liverpool. He was transferred to No. 1 corps of Cleveland and later went to Troy, N.Y., where he was in the service when retired by failing health three years ago. He has been living in Everett since his retirement. He leaves his wife, daughter, Ruth, and one son, Gustave who is engaged in Salvation Army work in New York City. Funeral services were held in Everett today. Field Major and Mrs. Hughes today sent the following message to the Boston Salvation Army headquarters: "Deepest sympathy to you from the East Liverpool, Ohio, corps officers and soldiers, praying that God's sustaining grace will uphold you." ====Obituary==== Commandant Julius Abrams, 67, of 66 Thurman st, Everett, a converted Hebrew member of the Salvation Army and long a noted speaker, who died at his home, Monday morning, will be buried today. Services will be conducted at the Palace Auditorium, Washington and East Brookline sts, this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Col Joseph Atkinson, commander of the New England Division of the Salvation Army, will officiate and will be assisted by the new England staff and the Salvation Army Band. Commandant Abrams was born in Germany and came to this country when nine years of age. He was an officer of the Salvation Army for 30 years, part of which he served in California and 15 years of which he was located in Boston. Five years ago he retired from active duty and since has been in much demand as a lecturer on Salvation Army affairs.
