Clark Allis Berkhoudt was born in a Salvation Army hospital in Buffalo, NY on February 10, 1920 to John & Wilhelmenia Berkoudt the youngest of seven children and the only one born in the United States. Named after the family that sponsored his parents to immigrate to the US he was raised in a Godly, Salvationist Dutch home. Clark was converted when he was 15 years old, having been led to the Lord by his sister. He was then enrolled as a Soldier of the Buffalo Citadel Corps in 1935. He was active in Sunday School, band, songsters, Craft Teacher, Boy Scout Leader and was the CSM before becoming an officer. During WW2 he served on Okinowa with the Marines, and was fond of saying, "Once a Marine, always a Marine!" Prior to leaving home to fight in the war, his sister, [[..:Wilhelmina Berkhoudt Guldenschuh|Wilhelmena]] gave him a bible admonishing him to be sure to read it every night. One night, while sitting in his tent reading it by a small light, a sniper shot at him. The bullet lodged in his bible, saving his life. Throughout his life he would credit his sister with saving his life twice- once by leading him to the Lord and once by giving him that bible. He married his teen age sweetheart, Janet Summers on December 31, 1943 while on leave. This union had four children: John Clark, [[Andrea Berkhoudt See|Major Andrea]] (See), Clark John, & [[Janet Berkhoudt Ashcraft|Lt. Colonel Janet]] (Ashcraft). Prior to entering the Training College in 1964 as a member of the Defenders of the Faith Session Clark worked at Westinghouse and WR Grace companies as a packaging engineer. While working at Westinghouse he submitted an idea to replace the latch on ice boxes (refrigerators) with a magnetized strip. Westinghouse accepted his idea and began manufacturing refrigerators that sealed in this manner. He and his wife, Jennie, were commissioned in 1965 as Cadet Lieutenants to Fulton, NY. Clark's second appointment was to Tonawanda, NY, where Jennie was Promoted to Glory in 1970.

In 1971 Clark was appointed to Montclair NJ where he met then Major Ruth Raymond, the widow of Major Frank Raymond. After receiving phone approval from his 2 daughters and her six children, they began dating in Old Orchard Beach, Me during the camp meetings. Clark married Ruth in May 1972 and they served in Nashua NH, Pawtucket RI, Poughkeepsie NH and finally to Ten Eyck-Troughton Residence in NY. They retired in June 1985 and moved to Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Clark was a gifted craftsman, enjoying woodworking, ceramics, photography and painting. He received a third place win in the Art Guild Annual Art Show in 2007. Clark was Promoted to Glory on July 20, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.
