Holz, 48, Young People's secretary of the Salvation Army in the southern territory and one of the best known officers in the organization throughout the south, died yesterday morning at Veteran's Base Hospital No. 48. He had been in ill health several months. \\ \\ Brigadier Holz came to Atlanta in 1934 from Oklahoma as principal of the Southern Territorial Training School, a position he held for three and a half years. He was appointed secretary of young people about six months ago. \\ \\ Born at Syracuse, N.Y., he was educated at Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, Va., at Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania and at Washington & Lee University, Charlottesville, Va., where he took post-graduate work in civil engineering. He was trained for officership in the Eastern Training College of the Salvation Army and received his first commission in 1912. \\ \\ Brigadier Holz served as chaplain with the A. E. F. in France during the World War. He was a member of the Atlanta Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post No. 1, and was active in the management of the annual Salem camp meeting, and the new Atlanta Boys' Club, which he helped organize and direct. \\ \\ Surviving are his father, Commander Richard E. Holz, retired for many years in charge of the eastern territory with headquarters at New York; his wife, Lieutenant Keitha White Holz, whom he married in 1914; five sons, Richard Holz, Ernest Wilson Holz, David Holz and Edwy Holz; three daughters, Keitha Holz, Edith Holz and Nancy Holz, and four sisters, Mrs. Major R Gifford, of California; Mrs. Major Gus Abrams and Mrs. Brigadier Claud Bates, both of New York, all officers in the Salvation Army, and Mrs. I Goellner, of Philadelphia. \\ \\ Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Tuesday in Peachtree Chapel with [[Ernest I Pugmire|Lieutenant Commissioner Ernest I. Pugmire]] and Colonel Richard F.
