+Mrs. Richard Atwell, wife of Major Richard Atwell, commander of the local Salvation Army corps, will be the speaker at 9:45 a. m. tomorrow when Rally Day is observed in the First Presbyterian Church, W. Broad and Church streets.
+She will be introduced to the church school by the Rev. Dr. Frederick B. Crane, host pastor.
+Promotion exercises for the Sunday School will be conducted by the pastor.
+Dr. Crane will be assisted in conducting the 11 a. m. service by Donald L. Mitchell Jr., a second year student at the Princeton Theological Seminary; Princeton, N. J.
+Special music will be offered by a quartet during the service.
+The Rally Day theme will be continued at 6:30 p. m. when the Westminster Fellowship installs its new officers for the year.
+Throughout the day the church will also note the Festival of Harvest Home. Canned goods or cash contributions may be brought to any of the services, Dr. Crane announced.

+====Mrs. R. Atwell Talks To WSCS====
+Mrs. Richard Atwell spoke on her work in Africa at last night's meeting of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Diamond Methodist Church.
+Major and Mrs. Atwell spent six and one-half years in Southern Rhodesia, in evangelism and education work. Last night Mrs. Atwell spoke of the schools started in Africa, and showed slides of the children in those schools. The children were in school uniforms made after the women of Africa were taught to sew, first by hand, and then by machine.
+Along with her talk, Mrs. Atwell showed curios of Africa.
+Mrs. Nat Bordner led devotions, and Mrs. Brian Fetterman presented a vocal solo. Mrs. G. Harry Lewis presided for the business meeting.
+Announcement was made of the "Day Apart" service to be held at the St. Paul's Methodist Church, at a date to be announced. The WSCS conference will be held in Lewistown, April 17 and 18.
+Two girls will be sent to the Carrie Barge house party next summer.
+Two former members attended last night's meeting. They are Mrs. John Newell of Ashland, and Mrs. Margaret henry of Philadelphia. The next society meeting will be March 25.

+====Mrs. Atwell Says Africa To Bar White Missionaries In 10 Years====
+A prediction that the white missionaries will be barred from Africa within 10 years was voiced Saturday afternoon by Mrs. Richard Atwell, Philadelphia, when she addressed some 500 women in Christ Lutheran Church, Church and Green streets.
+The women were guests at the 25th annual convention of the Pennsylvania Federation of Men's Bible Classes held in the First United Presbyterian Church, Church and Broad street.
+The special service for the women was conducted by Mrs. Julius Schneider, West Hazleton.
+Mrs. Atwell, who with her husband, Major Richard Atwell of the Salvation Army, served as missionaries to Africa for several years, said there is a great need now to train Negro missionaries to take over the duties on that continent just as the Japanese missionaries were trained to serve in their native land.
+Mrs. Atwell told of the great need for supplies and materials as well as the prayers of the people who live in countries where Christ is already known and His Gospel is being proclaimed.
+At the close of her address, Mrs. Schneider announced the afternoon offering would be turned over to Mrs. Atwell for use in the Salvation Army's missionary program.
+Mrs. Atwell was introduced by Miss Delilah Wagner. Mrs. William Hellings offered the afternoon prayer and Lt. Margaret George, head of the local Salvation Army Citadel, read the scripture lesson for the day.
+Special music during the afternoon was presented by the talented boys chorus, "The Little Jewels," of St. John's Methodist Church, Hampstead, Md., under the direction of Mrs. Donald T. McIntosh.
+As an added treat for the women, Walter D. Eddowes, Jr., Wyncote, whose singing of gospel hymns and playing them on the trumpet have won him wide acclaim made an unscheduled appearance before the women and led them in singing many of the best-loved hymns. He was accompanied on the piano by John W. Lightcap, Jr., who has been associated with Eddowes for 14 years.

+====United Church Women Note World Community Day====
+Mrs. Major Richard Atwell who has observed the work of the Salvation Army in Brazil, South America, and who spent more than six years as a missionary in Central Africa, with her husband will be the speaker at the World Community Day service tomorrow. The annual observance sponsored by the United Church Women will take place this year at 1:30 p.m. in the Salvation Army, 55 West-Chester Ave., Port Chester.
+Mrs. Atwell, born in Oswego, N.Y. entered the Salvation Army school for officers training in New York in 1934. After being commissioned as an officer she filled appointments in Scranton and Mount Carmel, Pa. In 1939 she was married to Major Richard Atwell in Lewistown, Pa. and appointments followed in Lock Haven, Pa. and Manchester Conn. From Manchester the Atwells left for South America and later their headquarters were in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia.
+In Africa the Major and her husband were given the responsibility of acting principal at the Army's Howard Institute with its 1200 students. The Institute is one of the largest educational centers in Central Africa. Much of the education in the area is in the hands of missionary groups and the Salvation Army has more than 300 schools approved by the African Educational Department.
+Later the Atwells were in charge of the North Mashona Division with its 21 schools and 35 centers of work. After returning to America Major and Mrs. Atwell were responsible for the Army's Youth Work in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and southern New Jersey. A year ago they were appointed divisional secretaries for the New York Metropolitan Division covering Westchester and the five New York Boroughs.
+The theme for World Community Day will be "Freedom To Know." The chairman for the program is Mrs. Capt. Robert Jennings. Mrs. Kathryn Gray will be the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Gladden Houck Sr. Others taking part in the program are Mrs. Frank Mahler, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Byram; Mrs. Robert Brown, Bethesda Baptist; Mrs. Ralph Gerlach, Summerfield Methodist; Mrs. Clark Wright, St. Francis A.M.E. Zion; and Mrs. Elliott Sellar, Port Chester Presbyterian. Captain Robert C. Jennings, host minister, will welcome the visiting church women and pronounce the benediction. A tea will follow the service.
+The project this year for World Community Day is making school bags and filling them with school supplies. Groups in the churches affiliated with United Church Women have been making the bags and collecting the supplies. Bags and sup;;lies will be turned in at the meeting.
+Each bag assembled will help a Latin American child gain an education. Many there are said to lack the simple tools of learning. The organization has learned that in a first grade class in a city school in Antofagasta, Chile there are 38 children with a good teacher but the supplies consist of only one box of crayons, one ruler, and a pair of scissors.
